Design for America — Michigan State University
Design for America is a national design innovation organization. The network is made up of more than 30 collegiate studios (chapters) — including Michigan State University's studio, founded in 2014.
WHAT WE DO
We identify issues in our community and work with community members to create ideas and concepts that address those challenges. It's social, design, and entrepreneurial innovation all in one impactful place!
HOW WE DO IT
Each semester we choose a number of issues in the community and divide the members of our studio into small interdisciplinary teams. Each team tackles a different issue, spending the semester connecting with community members and working to design sustainable solutions.
WHY WE DO IT
Our studio is interdisciplinary, and each member has a unique reason they're passionate about DFA. Some members love the innovation aspect. Others love making social impact. Still others love collaborating with others outside of their major, or they love working on interesting and relevant projects. Overall, we're college students looking to use human-centered design to impact the community.
